23. How to Trade Stochastics Like the Pro’s Do
www.informedtrades.com — Home of the largest free university for traders A lesson on how to trade the stochastic oscillator for active day traders and investors using technical analysis in the stock market, forex market. and futures market. In our last lesson we learned about the RSI indicator and some of the different ways traders of the stock, futures, and forex markets use this in their trading. In today’s lesson we are going to look at another momentum oscillator which is similar to the RSI and is called the Stochastic. Let me start by saying that there are 3 different types of stochastic oscillators the fast, slow, and full stochastic. All of them operate in a similar manner however when most traders refer to trading using the stochastic indicator they are referring to the slow stochastic which is going to be the focus of this lesson. The basic premise of the stochastic is that prices tend to close in the upper end of their trading range when the financial instrument you are analyzing is in an uptrend and in the lower end of their trading range when the financial instrument that you are analyzing is in a downtrend. When prices close in the upper end of their range in an uptrend this is a sign that the momentum of the trend is strong and vice versa for a downtrend. The Stochastic Oscillator contains two lines which are plotted below the price chart and are known as the %K and %D lines. Like the RSI, the Stochastic is a banded oscillator so the %K and %D lines …

Tips and Tricks:

Painting easier than cleaning up,
You will save a lot of time by using this instead of any kind of manual painter. I made 2 passes of 50/50 latex/water(extremely thinned) paint to a 3×2 meter room in less than 10 minutes, and took less than 30 minutes to clean everything up, normally it should take 30 minutes per pass(manually)…so 1 hour plus all the dripping and messing up to clean for after.
The day before that I painted metal fences, with non thinned oil based paint, and a 20*1 meter wall with white latex paint(non thinned). So if you have any doubts about buying this..here are the pros and cons..
PROS
+1/5th or less, the time you will spend up painting
+Professional finish, if you move at a constant and fast enough rate
+No need to thin the paint(I sprayed both latex and oil paint)
+Easy cleanup(less than 30 minutes)
+Minimal over spray(still cover up everything within 20inches)
CONS
-It’s LOUD, specially when the tube is still empty(used in-ear headphones + music, so didn’t notice)
-It eats a lot of paint(plan 25%-50% more than you would normally take)
-If you try to thin it to much, you will need to move really fast if you don’t want to see your wall drip
Recommendations
1)Disassemble everything when done spraying(don’t wait more than 1 hour or the paint will probably dry where it sits), and place it in a bucket with the appropriate cleaning solution: – Thinner for oil based paints
– Soap+warm water for latex
2)Then clean everything and reassemble using the manual
EXTRAS:
*Wear earplugs or headphones while operating
*Wear glasses and a mask
*Wear gloves if you are spraying oil based paints(ull get dirty)
*cover up everything you don’t want accidentally sprayed

|Worth more than it’s weight in gold.,
This thing is awsome. I loved using it. Definitely read the instruction before operating it, I did not take into account the small amount of sputter that came out while it was priming. Also, if you plan on doing any interior painting, I’d say cover at least 24 inches out from wherever you don’t want paint to go. I encountered a little more over spary than I planned. It works great on the application side, and clean up took me less time than if I were to clean out one brush.

|Yields a good finish, clean-up is a bit of work,
This is my first paint sprayer, which I bought for painting a farmer’s porch (especially the railings and spindles). It puts out a pretty consistent spray with little sputtering. I was using a fairly heavy indoor/outdoor primer/sealer (Kilz) and it sprayed ok without thinning, but the low paint indicator never came on and resulted in unwanted sputtering when the paint ran out from the cup.
The EZ Tilt dip tube works well, I was able to paint in several orientations while maintaining even spraying.
Clean-up is a bit involved, the sprayer has to be taken apart quite a bit and the parts brushed clean with the included toothbrush and wirebrush… I think there are 16 steps in total to cleaning. I guess this will be true of any paint sprayer, so I can’t comment on whether clean-up is any better or worse with this unit. It was pretty straight-forward, I had little difficultly in taking it apart or putting it back together. I think it could be easier, though.
So far I’m pleased with the purchase… despite the involved cleaning process, it’s still a time saver and yields a better finish than with brushes or rollers.
